Understanding The Complexities of Drug Rehab Centers

If you’ve considered entering a drug rehab center to deal with your addiction, you may be wondering if it’s worth taking this step. The answer is a definite “yes!” Drug abuse affects multiple areas of life including the physical, psychological, and emotional. You’re not going to be able to address all these areas on your own, and you can benefit from even a short term in a drug rehab facility.

Physical Benefits Of Drug Rehab Centers

If you are physically dependent on drugs, giving them up is going to cause withdrawal symptoms. One of the first areas to focus on during rehab is physically detoxing from these drugs. By choosing a certified medical rehab center instead of trying to quit on your own, you have a decreased chance of relapsing or overdosing. Also, you are protected in this environment against unforseen complications. The medical professionals at these centers can help to ease the symptoms and make sure that you get to a healthier body as quickly as possible.

One of the main reasons to consider a rehab center is the success rates that result in where you decide to continue your treatment. Individuals who try to give up on their own have a very low success rate. Even with the help and support of friends and family, their physical addiction is too much for them to handle and they are not able to recover fully. While rehab centers do not have complete success in all cases, they have significantly improved results in people who complete their programs. The physical environment and medical expertise in drug recovery simply cannot be experienced anywhere else.

Psychological Benefits Of Drug Rehab Centers

As we know, addiction isn’t just about the physical cravings, it also changes your state of mind. Inpatient rehab offers a wide range of psychological therapies that are designed to address your history of drug abuse as well as your present state of transitioning into abstinence and helping you to build a future of recovery. Each rehab will offer different therapy options because each person needs a different type of style of treatment. In some cases, you may be struggling with other psychological disorders like anxiety or depression as well, which can also be addressed in a rehab center.

What many people also don’t realize about drugs is that they change the way that the mind works. When you’re recovering from drugs, you may notice that you’re not able to think as clearly or have difficulty in some areas of life. The psychological experts at rehab centers can help you work through these problems, recommend strategies, and help get you on the path to psychological wellness. The mind can heal and grow, especially with professional help, so even chronic drug users can find themselves improved mentally with treatment.

Emotional Benefits Of Drug Rehab Centers

While some people prefer to characterize this part of drug rehab as either mental or spiritual depending on the direction of the treatment, the emotional healing that can occur during treatment should not be overlooked. Though physical addiction is primarily important an psychological disorders are as well, the emotional safety and general peace of mind that you get in these centers is crucial to the continuing success of the overall treatment.

Remember that while you are enrolled in a rehab center, you get to take a step away from the normal stresses of life. You don’t have to worry about bills, work, past events, children, or spouses during this period. For the time that you’re enrolled in a treatment program, you have a buffer between yourself and the world, allowing you to give your full attention to your recovery. This is one of the main reasons why drug rehab is successful, when it covers all of these areas effectively.

If you’re wondering how to get over your addiction and start building a healthier lifestyle, consider a treatment center for drug rehab. The trained staff at these centers are sympathetic and skilled in their areas and help thousands of people every year rebuild their lives. These drug rehab centers are designed with you in mind, so don’t get lost in the system and instead take this opportunity to focus on your health.

Drug Rehab Treatment Programs For Success

Drug addiction is a disease that is rapidly claiming lives of people of all backgrounds everyday. It is important for every person seeking help regarding this problem to first and foremost accept that he or she is suffering from drug addiction. Usually close friends or family members are the first ones to realize this fact. It then becomes their responsibility to take care of the situation and to carry out the necessary steps that would relieve the drug addict of his addiction.

A drug rehab treatment is the prescribed way to handle this delicate situation. Choosing the right drug rehab center is important for a successful treatment. The aim of every drug rehab treatment is to recover. To do this, the patient should be willing to help his own self by making every effort to recuperate. After getting enrolled in the rehab center usually every patient is assigned a personal coach to help him recover.

Every drug rehab treatment is a well structured process where the patient is not made to feel that he suffers from some disease rather all the patients are treated as members of a family living together under one roof.

There are various specialized and customized rehab programs designed for addicts so that they can overcome the habit with ease. Highlighting some of the drug recovery programs include:

* Physical evaluation and psychological assistance

* Medical screening

* Counseling sessions

* Group support

* One-on-one intensives

* Psychiatric assessment

Most importantly, the addicts are treated with love, care and understanding so that they get a comfortable and relaxing environment while getting the treatment. Other services made available under drug recovery programs include detoxification, extended care programs and classes in yoga and Pilates. There are also residential care services made available round the clock where the apartments are equipped with all amenities, such as beds, kitchens and bathrooms. Aftercare programs are also available for individuals seeking extended care or sober living programs. Get more information

My ‘Rediscovery’ Of Biophysical Drug Rehab Treatment

I am a rehab counselor and interventionist. No too long ago I was helping a retired doctor (anesthesiologist) to find a biophysical drug rehab for her stepson. She was helping me to understand this type of treatment which I had heard about and known about for years. I have even referred families to this type of biophysical rehab in the past but for me, the penny dropped after speaking with her about her son.

She started by explaining that he was using for years many drugs from pain pills to cocaine to benzos and alcohol. He’d go to traditional treatment and then weeks or months later he’d relapse. Very similar to stories you hear about from most families fighting addiction. But she was adamant about finding the best biophysical drug rehab center for him. She knew that he’d not succeed if he did not get this physical component to rehab that was critically lacking in his past attempts.

As a background, biophysical drug rehab programs emphasize that drug and alcohol residue store in the body. They focus on a long term drug rehab and detox protocols that release all of these stored residue so that the person can feel truly well enough to actually respond to their addiction therapy. A widely reported side benefit of biophysical rehabs is that the extreme cravings and urges to use drugs completely disappear after treatment.

Now, I had heard about this for many years but understanding exactly how and why was a bit beyond my training. It was speaking with this doctor regarding her son that really helped me to see how this type of treatment is vital and probably a missing component in most rehab treatment today.

As an anesthesiologist, she said that she learned drugs and toxins can store in the fatty tissues and remain for many years. And that the most common metabolic events that occur daily can release some of those drugs into the blood. Spices in food, exercising, sex, even a jolt of adrenaline from a scary movie can cause such events. And when this occurs it is not enough to get the “high” feeling but it will stir up the most incredible cravings for the drugs or alcohol that the person is used to consuming.

Additionally, her son was not responding to traditional 12 step group therapy treatment and said that most biophysical rehabs are non 12 step drug rehab programs. This means that along with the biophysical rehab treatment he would experience a more one on one cognitive therapy for underlying issues. With non 12 step drug rehab, there would be no one telling him he’s a victim and no one telling him he has a disease.

By the end of the call things that I had known about on the subject of biophysical drug rehabs all hit home and became very clear to me. I could really understand why this style of treatment has become so much in demand in the last 5 -10 years (though it has been around for 40 years). They are longer term; non-drugging; non disease / non 12 step in nature and they use protocols to get ALL the drugs out of the body. What’s not to like about that? The key to me is success. Traditional 28 day rehabs boast an abysmal 10% success rate whereas these biophysical drug rehab programs have 75% success rates.

All in all I believe this is one call that helped me more than I may have helped her but I have put that knowledge to good use in helping others.
